A proposal for a surfer's wooden home, exhibited in "Seven Young Architects Design a Surfer's Home." The exhibition was held inside the cars of the Shonan Monorail, making use of advertising space to experiment with a novel exhibition style.
We proposed a home that focuses in on the function that is most closely involved with surfing: bathing. We designed a "Bathing Shed" that allows that inhabitant to enter the bathing space directly from outside. The space has a high ceiling that allows the user to relax and take their time, and is intended to be used outside of bathing as well– for fixing up surf boards, or for reading. Our proposal is a "bath/living room," a new form of living space. The other functions of the dwelling are made compact, as we envisioned that the structure could be built anywhere, to be used as a guest house for existing homes along the Shonan Monorail.
